THRIVE
THRIVE is a case study for a framework for adapting existing office buildings into mixed-use nodes for a livable, walkable, sustainable city.
Programmatically, THRIVE consists of three main strategies to create this framework. First, a static element consisting of living and live-work units creates a backbone for the project. These elements form a spine off of which the other elements hinge.
The second element involves communally shared space, occupied by all tenants, residential, commercial or other. These spaces permeate the structure at different levels, and provididng different functions.
Finally, the dynamic elements create an ever-changeable and adaptable structure for businesses to inhabit. The ability for these spaces to be reconfigured allows for infinite and unforseen uses.
